World Series / Revisiting Soler’s HR
We’ve all had an opportunity to relish (or anguish) in the Braves’ World Series clinching 7-0 win over the Houston Astros in Game 6.
The fun started when Jorge Soler stepped up to the plate in the top of the 3rd with 2 men on base.
The 8-pitch battle with Luis Garcia was one of the best pieces of hitting I’ve seen in a long time.
Soler was able to lay off Garcia’s 2-1 cutter that was called a ball, but looked at strike 2.
Following 2 foul balls (one which was a foreshadowing), here we are at pitch #8 with a full count:

Here’s another angle where he’s clearly enjoying the moment with his teammates…

If you’re like me, you enjoyed the entire at-bat:
- the tension of the moment
- how Garcia wasn’t able to get Soler to chase a couple of pitches earlier in the count,
- you could tell Soler was “sizing Garcia up”,
- then… GONE!
Congrats to the Braves on a well-deserved World Series Championship.
Also, I was very glad that Jorge Soler was selected as the World Series MVP.
